Imperial city in the old days, Bratislava is a city of both past and present. I haven’t seen much of the modern part of the city, but I took my Minox to the old one, and walked the narrow medieval streets, taking in the majesty of a city that once wore the imperial purple.
It has almost the same architecture and city design as other cities in the Central Europe, which is understandable as most of this geographical area was under the rule of the Austrian Empire, together with Moravia in Czech Republic and part of Slovenja. So the cities in these parts, I mean the old parts of the cities are not very different. Obviously, each has its own particularities, some are better preserved than others, and I have seen even curtain walls still on, in some of the places I have been.
