When looking through the viewfinder, and framing a street scene reflecting onto a shop window, one feels like is caught between two realities. Identical of course, but different, if that makes any sense. A woman is walking down the street towards an entrance, the window shows her from another angle. Adverts seem to be floating in mid air, multiplied by the wavy glass sheet. Buildings look like they are in the wrong place and in the wrong shape.
Sometimes it is confusing, because of the different angles; of course our eyes try to make sense of something which they know it’s not right. But it is right, it’s just that the reflections exist in their own world, a world which coincidentally can be seen in the same time and space with the one we know.
But this sort of images are fun, the various combined elements of the photograph convey a completely different sense to that picture. Many times I notice something which I haven’t seen at the time in that frame. In the same time, there are photographs which do not make sense, after I scan and look at them. You know, the sort of question “what the hell was I thinking”, or something like that.
Btw, these were taken with Nikon FM3A and Fujifilm 200, lab processed, scanned negative.
