My Minox journey continues…

Golden Power PX27A

Golden Power PX27A

Switched recently to a new battery for my MInox 8×11 cameras (those that require one, of course). Prior to this new addition, I have been using Varta or Duracell ones, or even better, a Minox adapter for a combo of 3xLR44 and 1xLR43. Worked like a charm and still travel with at east 2 sets of such batteries and two adapters.

I have chosen this battery because is much easier to find, and it has a very decent discharge curve. Its nominal 6v does not seem to affect the metering in C/EC/LX cameras, from what I’ve observed so far; being an alkaline battery, is even better suited to the use in these (at times) demanding cameras. Cheaper than its alternatives (only 4.2 euro, versus more from other brands), is clearly a choice for budget users out there.

There is a G and an M version of this battery (PX27G/PX27M), but I never used any of these two other versions; I do not see a major difference between the three models, but I just felt this needed to be said. I will probably try one of these in the future, just for test sake.

With proper size of 20,5mm x 12,7mm, it is perfectly suitable to load into the battery chambers of the Minox 8×11 models aforementioned. My daily work Minox LX is still going strong after switching to this batter 8 months ago. And I can tell you that this LX is taking some 4 films per month. Of course, as in all cases where a battery use is concerned, do not play (too much) with the battery check feature on any of your Minox cameras: this is a very hungry feature and it will eat through your battery like nothing else (well, perhaps second to cold weather).
