Right, so one my Minox Riga cameras gave up the ghost. Shutter is unreliable, and that’s an understatement; the speeds cannot be adjusted correctly, as the speeds disc has a mind of its own. Parallax is not reliable either, as the distance dial became somewhat loose. That is why the camera, together with a couple more, went to the MS Hobbies of London for repair and CLA. Hopefully, these will be restored to the fullest of their functions.
These here are all the frames I was able to get from the last film shot with this Minox Riga, the film was APX 100. I wanted to check on the shutter speed and distance settings, and I was right. You can see (I guess) the way the shutter speeds are messing up the exposure. The sharpness is also lacking, and this is of no fault of mine. Right, long story short, camera was faulty, and sent to the doctors.
Granted, a couple of them pics came out somewhat satisfactory (ish). But the point is the camera is faulty, and although I do not shoot much film with it (in fact almost any at all), it will not do to have a faulty camera around. No reason for this, as long as it can be repaired. And of course, price of a faulty camera is dropping fast.
LE – this Riga has been sent to MS Hobbies for repair and CLA, together with a couple of BL’s. As of today, 14th of April 2023, I was told that all 3 cameras are repaired and packed to be sent over. Great news!
