This appears to be the short version of a Zuiko 50/1.4 lens. As someone on a Olympus OM forum said with regards to this lens: “First version. It had 36mm in length (from flange to end, when set on inf.). The newer versions had longer optics and was 40mm in length. That short version differed optically having overcorrected spherical giving “swirly” bokeh, similar to the one from 55mm. Some hate it, others love it. “
Bought this to complement my OM2n (and my OM1) because I love shooting in available light; a 1.4 lens can get that light onto your film, in many cases. Besides, its a beautiful piece of engineering, even to look at 🙂 .
