It is written that things that have to pass will come to pass, no matter what. This is the case with an old Agfa Silette-L, sitting on my shelves for years. I have presented this camera here to some extent here in this article. So I just loaded a roll of Konica VX 400 (expired 2006), and took it out for a walk.
The camera itself is an example of craftmanship of yore, German one: sleek and featuring quite advanced controls for the period. The lens is a Agfa Color Solinar, 2.8 / 50mm, and I hear that it is greatly appreciated by many. I should certainly think so, as this lens was one much coveted by photographers in its heydays, when it came to Agfa lenses.
Slow speeds are a bit lazy, but I am not going to have it CLA’d, as these speeds (1, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8) are those which I almost never use with this type of cameras. From 1/15 upwards, the speeds are spot on, and the entire Compur shutter mechanism behaves as pristine. This is a good sign to hope for some good colour photographs.
So I shot a short roll of Konica VX400 (expired 2008) with this camera, and I have a good number of interesting frames, matched by an equal number of out of focus ones. No idea why, I thought I was very careful with the distance focusing. Colours are a bit on the meh side, but the shifting created quite an interesting feeling on those photographs. Anyways, for what is worth, do enjoy.
All these photographs were taken in the small town of Nisporeni, Rep. of Moldova.
