My Minox journey continues…

Minox EC with Ilford HP 400

Minox EC with Ilford HP 400

I took this Minox EC camera with me, when I recently visited Billund in Denmark, checking the Legoland. It was not the only Minox camera I carried with me, but I thought to give it an airing, haven’t used it much lately.

Minox EC was one of the camera that I have acquired for being a perfect idiot-proof camera. That’s right, idiot-proof. You just put your film in it, set the ASA/ISO and snap away. OK, you will have to remember that the Minox EC has a 5.6 lens (as opposed to your regular Minox 8×11 camera, which is 3.5), and the focus distance.

One thing I should’ve remember from the old days was that I never ever loaded this camera with anything higher than 100 ISO film, reason being…exactly, the higher f of the lens. With film higher than 100, I always get overexposure, and this happened with all EC cameras I had and have. Exposure meter issues? In all of them?? Hard to believe this, but what can you do, eh? Anyways, for the sake of bragging, I own 8 of them (3 broken, 5 working). Out of these 5 working, 3 are NIB, the kit being the one with an 8×11 Minox electronic flash, not the usual (and rubbish) cube flash adapter. But I digress.

So, I loaded this camera with Ilford’s HP5 400, and rated it 400. That was a mistake, because while it served me well inside the Teddy Bear Museum Art in Billund, the outdoors pics came out overexposed. Not really rubbish, but not a pride for me. Or for anyone else for that matter.
