My Minox journey continues…

My holiday in Italy – a real film binge

My holiday in Italy – a real film binge

Well, perhaps not everyone would call shooting 16 rolls of film in about 10 days a binge, but to my own experiences up to this moment, that is indeed the right word for it. I mean, this is Italy after all. If you don’t find really interesting stuff to photograph in Italy, then probably you are either very very picky, or you’re not probably into photography 🙂 . The cameras were literally going through the rolls of film like there was no tomorrow.

I shot mainly black and white, with a decent number of colour rolls, most of the times having two cameras with me. Venice in black and white is really nice, but colour has its own use when confronted with the colourful sights, places and, well, almost everything in this city. But the number of colour film rolls shot here are not many, as I mainly like to use black and white.

I had 4 cameras with me for this holiday: Nikon F2, Nikon F3, Nikon FM3a and an Olympus OM2n. These were used in turns, of course I could not carry with me 4 cameras (and lenses) when going out and about. Lens wise, I had the usual 50/2 AI, 28/2.8 AI, 105/2.5 AI and the OM2n had its usual 50/1.4 Zuiko. The 105/2.5 was used mainly as a tele lens, but there were quite a good number of instances when I used for what it was intended: portraits. Usually, this works well for me. I usually carried either two Nikons, fitted with a wide and regular lens, accompanied by the 105/2.5 in my bag. Or, one Nikon and the OM2n. I have found myself using this OM2n with slide film mainly; it’s the camera that gave me better exposures on this emulsion type, in the past.

None of the films shot are currently processed, as I am not yet at home. I will have a lot of processing to do and I really look forward to it; the colour will have to be sent to my lab, for I do not process colour film (anymore). The same lab also deals with the slide’s E6, which is really good, I do not have to use two labs.

So, my holiday in Italy proved to be a real film binge, for me. Hopefully, I’ll have some results in a couple of weeks. Another binge shall follow then: the processing one 🙂  .Fingers crossed, probably some interesting shots will come out of my holiday, binge or not. I am looking forward to it all 🙂 .
