Traveling is something that is my second nature. Since the very early 90s, I have been traveling, criss-crossing Europe’s mainland, on business or just holidays, alone or my family, by train, car, plane. Wherever I went, I had a camera with me, beside my usual Minox in my pocket. Great memories, although (many times) not so great photographs. For what they worth, the pictures were taken with soul and the whatever imagination I possess.
At first I kicked myself for not focusing right. But after scanning the image, I feel the bad focus tells me something: this fellow felt unfocused so he took a nap onto that park bench. So, taking an out of focus photo of him, I feel like justice has been achieved in the world of imagination. Stupid, I know: a poor excuse for a poorly focused photograph 🙂 , but I always try to be the first one to take my bad photographs for a ride.
I am always looking for old architectural jewels, wherever I go. They seem to have resisted the time and human neglect in good shape, if properly maintained that is. I mainly am attracted to pre-1900 styles, and obviously the history buff that I am also likes the medieval buildings, or what’s left of them anyways. This here is a turn of century (1900-ish) residential building, in Romania.
I love to take night photographs from the hotel’s window, if possible. Unfortunately, the angle or the place to photograph is not always the best. Nonetheless, I like to snap away at a city that went asleep in the night. About this scan, it was done on a cheap digital scanner. You can easily see the effects.
Both architectural beauties and places of worship, many such churches and cathedrals adorn the Romanian landscape. Many are very good examples of a distinct design. Here, a specific style of the Western part of Romania, in the Northern Transylvania.
As I already said, a Minox camera is always with me when I travel. So many memories, and so many instances when using a larger camera was impossible. Minox always was handy, and of course, delivered to its best. Here, one of Minox cameras, a model C in black, in its own case with a chain wrist strap attached.
