Minox 8×11 Film Cutter, as sold by Minox GmbH Germany. Manufactured by Asanuma Camera Mechanical, Laboratory LTD, Tokyo, Japan. This is a tool to slit conventional 35mm films to 9,2mm.
At the beginning of the 2000’s, I bought one of these contraptions, in order to speed up my Minox film cutting. Everyone was talking about this cutter, and the word was that it is the best one on the market. Bought it, cut a few rolls of film, and put in back in its box. After some months, I sold it to a chap in London for the price I paid for it. Never wanted another one of this model, never bought another.
Reason was that I never grew accustomed to it. I know, working with finnicky piece of machinery takes time to get accustomed to, but for some reason I didn’t like this Acmel fim cutter, period. By the time I sold it, I have already bought another film cutter, the Zipslit, which was my Minox film cutter to go to, for more than 10 yrs.
