Kodak Double X 5222 – a project’s project

Bought a few rolls of this film, Kodak Double X 5222, because I thought I will use it in a project. The project (not started yet) is about street photography, city landscape too, in a “cine” fashion (think 60’s documentaries). Of course, I could’ve chose my usual film for this, the Kodak Tri-X 400, but I just wanted to see the highly acclaimed cinematography look of this emulsion.

So, the first roll was a test one, obviously. I have heard this film is something of a beast hard to tame, so I took my precautions, before launching full scale into the project. Some of what I have so far is, well, not too shabby, but not quite there yet. I have had some good frames, but many of these are somehow lacking the vibe I wanted and expected. One reason could be that the film was shot during the early evening, in very poor light.

Shot it at 160, and processed it in 510-Pyro for 6 1/2 mins, regular inverts. I have a feeling this developer is not exactly what this film needs. Oh well, next roll, please.
