My Minox journey continues…

Sekonic L-308B Flashmate

Sekonic L-308B Flashmate

Carried this meter in my bag, for the best part of last 10 yrs. A very convenient and trusty little thing it is; never let me down and, if used carefully, never landed me in trouble. True, it competes with my two other excellent light meters, Gossen Lunasix 3 and Weston Master III (refurbished with a new cell a few years ago by Ian Partridge).

Although a digital, it is rather easy to understand and use. If interested, manual can be found easy for free online. A convenient flash meter too, but I never used it in flash mode, on grounds I very rarely shoot with flash. I am amazed at how well it reads the low light situations, really accurate. Btw, this is a shutter priority meter.

The light sensor is accurate in both incident and reflective modes. Attention when you point it to the subject of your photograph: the meter cell is sensitive and you should be exact in what you need to meter. I always pay attention to the angle of reading the scene. One AA battery 1.5v is all you need to make this thing work, so no problems there.

This is the package the meter comes with: meter with its case and the lumidisc. This is a little thing which measures the light falling on green-screen walls, paintings or flat art. It is also used to adjust lighting ratios with multiple light sources or when taking Lux and Foot candle measurements.
